Driveway GatesDriveway gates come in many different configurations. For instance, there are 2 main types of gates you will see in most residential areas. They are sliding and swing gates. The size and the weight will differ and there are many materials to actually have your gate built from. The weight of the gate will determine how powerful the motor you need will be. That’s not to say you will require a motor but if you do the weight is a definite factor. Recently we have begun to work with solar powered gate openers as well. This means you can have your gate completely powered by green energy. Not on that, you will also receive a tax deduction for having solar power in your home.

Now if you are in the market for a new driveway gate system there are a few things you should know. The first is what type of gate. What I mean by that is what type of motion you would like for your gate. You can have a sliding or swing gate installed in your home. You might see some overhead gates in certain apartments.

Slide Gates

Slide gates as the name implies slides from side to side opening the driveway. If it does have one, the motor is installed where the gate meets the fence. Although, a motor is not necessary to operate a gate. You can have a gate that operates manually.

Sometimes a slide gate is not the best option as a gate. That is why there are swing gates available to ensure you get a great gate that’s right for your situation.

Swing Gates

Swing gates operate by having one or two gates swing in or out to open the driveway. Swing gates can be automated whether they be single or double swing gates. There are several different brands of gate openers and we highly recommend the LiftMaster openers. We have installed many over the years and LiftMaster runs into the least amount of issues.

If you’d like to have one of these options installed. Give us a call and we can have a technician provide you with an accurate estimate.
